English Translation By Swami Sivananda
The knowers of the three Vedas, the drinkers of Soma, purified of all sins, worshipping Me by sacrifices, pray for the way to heaven; they reach the holy world of the Lord of the gods and enjoy in heavn the divine pleasures of the gods.
Transliteration
traividyā māṃ somapāḥ pūtapāpā yajñair iṣṭvā svargatiṃ prārthayante
te puṇyam āsādya surendraloka maśnanti divyān divi devabhogānअनुवाद
Translation
Those who are well-versed in the three Vedas, who drink the Soma juice and are purified of sin, worship Me through sacrifices and pray for passage to heaven. Reaching the holy world of the lord of gods, they enjoy the divine pleasures of the gods in heaven.
Meaning
In this verse, Lord Krishna describes the path of those ritualistic worshippers who follow the karma-kanda section of the Vedas. By performing sacrifices and drinking the Soma juice, they purify themselves of sins and seek entry into the heavenly planets. While they successfully reach the realm of Indra and enjoy celestial pleasures, this attainment is temporary and does not lead to ultimate liberation.
