English Translation By Swami Sivananda

Of vain hopes, of vain actions, of vain knowledge and senseless, they verily are possessed of the deceitful nature of demons and undivine beings.

Transliteration

moghāśā moghakarmāṇo moghajñānā vicetasaḥ
rākṣasīmāsurīṃ caiva prakṛtiṃ mohinīṃ śritāḥ

Translation

Of vain hopes, of vain actions, of vain knowledge, and senseless, they verily partake of the delusive nature of fiends and demons

Meaning

In this verse, Lord Krishna describes the nature of those who fail to recognize His divine nature. Such individuals possess futile hopes, perform fruitless actions, and acquire useless knowledge because their discrimination is bewildered. Consequently, they take shelter in the delusive, demoniac, and fiendish nature that leads to spiritual ruin.
