Bhagavad Gita 8.18

English Translation By Swami Sivananda

From the Unmanifested all the manifested (worlds) proceed at the coming of the 'day'; at the coming of the 'night' they dissolve verily into ï1thatï1 alone which is called the Unmanifested.

Transliteration

avyaktād vyaktayaḥ sarvāḥ prabhavanty aharāgame
rātryāgame pralīyante tatraivāvyaktasaṃjñake

Translation

At the coming of day, all manifest beings emanate from the unmanifest and at the coming of night, they merge into that very same reality called the unmanifest

Meaning

This verse describes the cosmic cycle of creation and dissolution. At the dawn of Brahma’s day, all living entities manifest from the unmanifested state into physical existence. Conversely, when Brahma’s night falls, the entire creation dissolves back into that same unmanifested source.
