English Translation By Swami Sivananda

Transliteration

yatroparamate cittaṃ niruddhaṃ yogasevayā
yatra caivātmanā'tmānaṃ paśyannātmani tuṣyati

Translation

When the mind, disciplined by the practice of yoga, becomes quiet, and when, beholding the Self through the self, one is satisfied in the Self

Meaning

This verse describes the state of ultimate absorption (samadhi) achieved through yoga. When the mind is completely restrained and quieted by steady practice, the yogi perceives the Supreme Self within the individual self. In this state of pure consciousness, one finds absolute contentment within, independent of any external sensory pleasures.
