Chapter 4 · ज्ञानकर्मसंन्यासयोग

Bhagavad Gita 4.27

English Translation By Swami Sivananda

Translation

Others offer all the functions of the senses and the functions of the life breaths as a sacrifice in the fire of the yoga of self-restraint, kindled by knowledge.

Meaning

In this verse, Lord Krishna describes the sacrifice of self-restraint, which is practiced by followers of Dhyana Yoga. These yogis withdraw their senses from worldly objects and control their life breaths, offering all these activities into the fire of self-control. This inner fire is illuminated by the clear knowledge of the self, ultimately leading the seeker to spiritual liberation.
