Chapter 2 ·

Bhagavad Gita 2.51

English Translation By Swami Sivananda

The wise, possessed of knowledge, having abandoned the fruits of their actions, and being freed from the fetters of birth, go to the place which is beyond all evil.

Transliteration

karmajaṃ buddhiyuktā hi phalaṃ tyaktvā manīṣiṇaḥ
janmabandhavinirmuktāḥ padaṃ gacchantyanāmayam

Translation

Because the wise, endowed with equanimity, having abandoned the fruit born of action and freed from the bondage of birth, attain the state that is free from suffering.

Meaning

In this verse, Lord Krishna explains the ultimate destination of those who practice Karma Yoga. Wise individuals who maintain equanimity and renounce the desire for the fruits of their actions break free from the continuous cycle of birth and death. Consequently, they attain the supreme state of liberation, which is completely free from all miseries and suffering.
