प्रवर्तन्ते विधानोक्ताः सततं ब्रह्मवादिनाम्

इसलिये वैदिक सिद्धान्तोंको माननेवाले पुरुषोंकी शास्त्रविधिसे नियत यज्ञ? दान और तपरूप क्रियाएँ सदा  इस परमात्माके नामका उच्चारण करके ही आरम्भ होती हैं।

ब्रह्मवादियों से तात्पर्य सात्त्विक? जिज्ञासु साधकों से है। अपने सभी कर्मों में परमात्मा का स्मरण रखने से उन्हें श्रेष्ठता? शुद्धता और दिव्यता प्राप्त होती है। परमात्मा के स्मरण में ही अहंकार और उसके बन्धनों का विस्मरण है। अहंकार के अभाव में? साधक अपने तपाचरण में अधिक कुशल? यज्ञ कर्मों में निस्वार्थ और दान में अधिक उदार बन जाता है।

Therefore, with the utterance of "Om" are the acts of sacrifice, gift and austerity as enjoined in the scriptures, always begun by the students of Brahman.

Transliteration

tasmād om ity udāhṛtya yajña-dāna-tapaḥ-kriyāḥ
pravartante vidhānoktāḥ satataṃ brahmavādinām

अनुवाद

इसलिए, शास्त्रविधि से नियत यज्ञ, दान और तप रूप क्रियाएँ ब्रह्मवादियों द्वारा सदा ‘ॐ’ इस नाम का उच्चारण करके ही आरम्भ की जाती हैं

भावार्थ

इस श्लोक में भगवान कृष्ण समझाते हैं कि वैदिक अनुष्ठानों में ‘ॐ’ (ओम्) का क्या महत्व है। ब्रह्मवादी अर्थात् परमात्मा को खोजने वाले लोग किसी भी यज्ञ, दान या तप की क्रिया को शुरू करने से पहले ‘ॐ’ का उच्चारण करते हैं। ऐसा करने से वह कर्म परमात्मा को समर्पित हो जाता है और उसकी पवित्रता सुनिश्चित होती है।

Translation

Therefore, the acts of sacrifice, charity, and penance, as prescribed by the scriptures, are always initiated by the seekers of Brahman with the utterance of the syllable ‘Om’

Meaning

In this verse, Lord Krishna explains the significance of the syllable ‘Om’ in Vedic rituals. The seekers of the Supreme (Brahmavadis) always begin their prescribed acts of sacrifice, charity, and austerity by uttering ‘Om’. This practice sanctifies the action and aligns it with the ultimate spiritual goal.
