बहूदरं बहुदंष्ट्राकरालं    दृष्ट्वा लोकाः प्रव्यथितास्तथाऽहम्

हे महाबाहो आपके बहुत मुखों और नेत्रोंवाले? बहुत भुजाओं? जंघाओं और चरणोंवाले? बहुत उदरोंवाले? बहुत विकराल दाढ़ोंवाले महान् रूपको देखकर सब प्राणी व्यथित हो रहे हैं तथा मैं भी व्यथित हो रहा हूँ।

Having seen Thy immeasurable form with many mouths and eyes, O mighty-armed, with many arms, thighs and feet, with many stomachs and fearful with many teeth  the worlds are terrified and so am I.

Transliteration

rūpaṃ mahat te bahuvaktranetraṃ mahābāho bahubāhūrupādam
bahūdaraṃ bahudaṃṣṭrākarālaṃ dṛṣṭvā lokāḥ pravyathitāstathā'ham

अनुवाद

हे महाबाहो! आपके अनेक मुख और नेत्रों वाले, अनेक हाथ, जंघा और पैरों वाले, अनेक उदरों वाले तथा अनेक दाढ़ों के कारण अत्यंत विकराल इस महान रूप को देखकर सब लोग व्याकुल हो रहे हैं और वैसे ही मैं भी व्याकुल हो रहा हूँ।

भावार्थ

इस श्लोक में अर्जुन भगवान श्रीकृष्ण के अत्यंत विशाल और भयानक विश्वरूप को देखकर अपनी और समस्त लोकों की भयभीत अवस्था का वर्णन कर रहे हैं। भगवान का यह रूप अनंत मुखों, नेत्रों, हाथों और भयानक दाढ़ों से युक्त है, जिसे देखकर कोई भी विचलित हो सकता है। अर्जुन स्वीकार करते हैं कि इस अलौकिक और उग्र रूप को देखकर उनके मन में गहरा भय और व्याकुलता उत्पन्न हो गई है।

Translation

O mighty-armed one! Seeing Your wondrous and colossal form, with its myriad mouths and eyes, many arms, thighs, and feet, many bellies, and terrible with many tusks, the worlds are terror-stricken, and so am I.

Meaning

In this verse, Arjuna describes the overwhelming terror and anxiety felt by himself and the entire universe upon beholding Krishna’s colossal cosmic form. The form is described as having countless mouths, eyes, limbs, and terrifying teeth, which strikes fear into the hearts of all beings. Arjuna confesses that even he, a brave warrior, is deeply shaken and distressed by this awe-inspiring yet frightening manifestation.
